I think B&W does texture better in general. You lose the distraction of the color (especially when the color tones are somewhat …uninteresting?) and can just focus on the lines.

True. Though I took the original picture due to the contrast between the grey stone and the blue sky. But most of the picture is gray stone - so the texture there is the dominant theme.
