The extent to which the GOP rank-and-vile do not care about the deficit, or corruption, or truth, or rule of law when they are in power is truly eye-opening. 15 years ago, I actually believed them when they told me they were driven by principles like small government, rule of law, etc. But their behavior over that 15 years, especially times like the Garland nomination, and the even more egregious threat to not vote on ANY nominees if Clinton won, and now their total disinterest in the MASSIVE corruption already swirling in the Trump camp tells me that they literally only care about POWER.

The rank and file don’t even really care about power, the vast majority of them will never have any beyond the ability to flip a light switch. They are Team R and what they want is their team to win. They don’t really care about anything else. They are basically the worst of Yankee/Cowboy/Laker fans - the type of people who say “we” when talking about winning the World Series. Most of them don’t know a gotdam thing about specific policies and when confronted with facts and logic regarding existing policy dismiss it because, quite honestly, #nothingmatterslol. I’ve seen this so many times with my family that I don’t even bother trying to discuss politics with them, I just grin and nod and say “oh, yeah? Ok.” Every once in a while, I might push back, if I see an opening, but most of the time it does no good because they literally don’t care about anything other than their team winning.
