Oh, and let me once again vent that #NJTransit sucks. A 2 hour commute by bus (should take no more than an hour normally). Too many people left with no other mass transit option other than bus, and too few buses to handle the overflow from a lack of rail options.

It’s another reason that mass transit is critical to the efficient movement of people in urban areas. Without it, those places can’t function.

And Gov. Christie has to drop the hammer on both NJ Transit and the Port Authority to do more - and to do it quickly. It’s an intolerable situation that harms the regional economy. But the disaster response from both public authorities also shows why neither can truly be trusted with major infrastructure projects - they can’t manage their existing infrastructure, let alone repair it in any semblance of a timely manner (though in some areas, the fault resides with the utilities - who also deserve their own special place in hell).
