Long before Eastwood’s invisible Obama, there was Reagan’s invisible horde of welfare mothers and young bucks. That’s set not just the narrative, but created a trope of what “the government dependent” look like in this country.

I’ll bet you your associates that are working themselves into a “I’m the 53%” tizzy are still using the Reagan paradigm to conceptualize, and are concieving of that 47% as being in welfare mom terms.
