Marx corresponded with Lincoln and agreed with him on ending slavery, but the idea that Lincoln “introduced communism” to America is dopey.

Agreed, though it was hardly a correspondence. Marx, as the leader of the International Working Men’s Association, wrote a letter to Lincoln in 1865 congratulating him on his reelection, and received a reply from the U.S. Ambassador, Charles Francis Adams.
