Burton’s translation is a lot of fun, with a very informative introduction (“Explanatory Notes on the Manners and Customs of Moslem Men and a Terminal Essay upon the History of the Nights”). He was quite the character wasn’t he?

Thanks for the recommendation. I have the unabridged, annotated Kindle version, so maybe I’ll revisit it again soon.

Or should I say he was quite a character? Growing up in Massachusetts, we often said and wrote “the” instead of “a.” For instance, I still say “the cancer.”

Either one works for me. My dad was form Connecticut and he did the same thing.
