I understand that some folks want to insist that running in the building “was his job”.
I’m pretty sure that the job description of “school resource officer” does NOT include being a blood sacrifice martyr just so people have a “hero” to weep over.
I don’t know about the rest of the country, but here in TheBackwoods, our school resource officers mostly deal with drugs, minor disciplinary issues, and (this is going to be a shocker for people have to deal with bad resource gung-ho officers in their school systems) the cops in the school that a kid knows they can talk with when there is a problem.
If there is anything that requires a lockdown, the school resource officer waits for backup because that’s the established protocol.
Dead heroes are just dead and don’t accomplish anything in the process other than dying.
