re: #69 Big Beautiful Door

There has been some discussion as to whether the House Democrats should try to work with the GOP to pass bipartisan bills. I have an idea for bi-partisan legislation. How about the House take up and pass the Immigration Modernization Act of 2013, which passed the Senate with impressive bipartisan support, and could be passed and sent straight to the President?

You’re kidding, right?
Even if three out of the original “Gang of Eight” are no longer in the Senate, and another (Miss Lindsay) has gone full-metal Trump-toady, the odds of the Senate in the 116th Congress ever (re-)passing a bill of that sort are (IMO) near-zero at best. Not with King Orangeanus in the WH, and the GOP’s preferred “immigration policy” being solidified around Trail-Of-Tears-style expulsionism. I’m guessing that if the 2013 Act would be re-submitted to the House, it would pass: and then Mitch McConnell would move Heaven and Earth to kill it (and not even bother with a Trump veto).
