It can be treading familiar ground to knock on the NYT, but it’s important because of just how damaging their “both sides” pathology is, and how, while they’re the worst offender, they’re not outliers. Just the vanguard of the absurd normalization afforded to Trump and Co.

Tom Steyer could do a great service by purchasing media outlets in red states to provide actual balanced news coverage, instead of a quixotic run at the Presidency. Sheldon Adelson shut down the close investigative journalism exposing corruption in the casino industry in Las Vegas (including his casino) by purchasing the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I’d buy someone all the drinks if they bought the Scottsbluff Star-Herald just so it reports mostly balanced news coverage.

We get right-wing opinion columns to balance the far-right opinion columns.

The only liberal voice they ever get is when they print a letter from a Democrat in the area in the letters column. (I was amazed they printed a letter from me going after the publisher of the newspaper.)

Over in the county next door, the Garden County News eliminated all political coverage in their paper (even local politics) to encourage “civility.” (The News is an independently-owned paper.)
