The failure of the current Democratic candidates, to find a way to keep the angst that Trump has caused among many groups from spilling over into blaming the Democrats, is starting to tell.

We can blame the both-siderism of the “media”, but it is the responsibility of the candidates to control their own narratives.

And the irony is, one person who has tried to discuss this problem of Trump poisoning the well, Buttigieg, is one of those who is now some sort of “Republican” (which he most definitely is not), in the view of the pipe-bomb throwers on social media.

The problem with “progressives” as a label is that it is easy to adopt but if all that means is adopting a type of radicalism where no one is ever pure enough, then we are in trouble.

There is a lot to be said about a candidate who can simply get a few things done. Not everything. Not perfectly. Just who can get some of the important things done.

Yet I hope that we can find candidates who can articulate that our communal well-being is at stake, and that very issue is the number one issue to tackle. We have to build a society that can withstand the ups and downs.
