Charles, I understand your frustration, but really, the Supreme Court canât do any more damage until after the midterm elections.
What Biden needs to do is win the midterms in both the Senate and the House. He needs to use the killing of Roe to expand the Dems power in both houses of Congress.
Thatâs the key to making the Râs yesterdays party, who bit off more than they could chew.
If they had the power back in the early 70âs to keep Roe from happening, they would have been King Bees in the legal world. But they didnât. And it happened. And they worked for Fifty Fucking Years to get to the point to where they could kill Roe.
But when they finally got the juice to do it, a large majority of the polity supported the basics of Roe. They killed it 50 years too late, and they are going to get creamed in the midterms if the Dems play their cards just right.
Iâm just quickly getting exhausted by the second-hand nihilism I feel because itâs starting to feel like pulling teeth to keep people focused on Republicans as the root cause of all of this. Everywhere, even here, seems to be falling under the lure of blaming Dems for all the ills of the world as if the GOP has no agency while they keep reaping the benefits of it all. The media has been all in on refusing to lay blame where it should (because THAT would make them âpartisanâ, so both sideing things so the guilty party looks better, thatâs absolutely not partisan at all!), and the left flank has been increasingly trying to scream about denying Dems the vote, because if the Dem party collapses, thatâll magically bring about the progressive utopia once a ârealâ leftist party emerges from the ashes (instead of, you know, just having ashes in the scorched earth left). Meanwhile, the GOP skates because theyâre never held to account. Because âthatâs just how they are, so itâs pointless to get angry at themâ. Meanwhile, we persist with circular firing squads meant to ensure that we get nowhere. And Iâm just feeling the energy ebb from me because Iâm seeing the same trap that gave us Trump in 2016 about to kick us in the stomach in â22 and â24, because Dems are never âgood enoughâ, thus theyâre all to blame.
Look, I get Dems can be tone deaf. But considering the minefield they have to keep walking along with shitty media meddling and narratives, and a perfect split Senate that people keep acting like is a Green Lantern ring to make miracles with, Iâm far more forgiving of them being tone deaf as long as theyâre trying to point in the right direction, especially when the GOP is hitting Reverse on the entire country in hopes of bringing us back to 1861.
