re: #830 SanFranciscoZionist

OK. I’m watching a film set somewhere in a Palestinian refugee camp. In the opening scene, people are walking around, women are going shopping, and there is a car on fire. People are ignoring it, it’s just burning.

Why does a car catch fire? Why does a car burn, and people simply ignore it? I feel as though I’m missing some key thing here.

When I used to drive along I280 between San Jose and San Francisco, I witnessed two cars, on fire, on the side of the road, on two separate dates. Literally. Both times, a car was on fire, and no one was around. On one of the two occasions, it was at night, and it was rather surreal.
