When I used to drive along I280 between San Jose and San Francisco, I witnessed two cars, on fire, on the side of the road, on two separate dates. Literally. Both times, a car was on fire, and no one was around. On one of the two occasions, it was at night, and it was rather surreal.

I saw one burning by the road once, but it had clearly been in an accident of some kind. This one is just sort of sitting there, on the street, burning away. The behavior of the people around it suggests that cars catch fire all the time.
