Well, I respect your honest view, and thanks for the courteous response, but I don’t believe it makes me evil to point out evil, nor to hate it. I’m agnostic, but I do believe some humans can become through their own choice monsters, or malignant narcissists if you like (sometimes made easier, depending on culture, how they’re raised, education, and a number of factors, but regardless, even under the worst of conditions, there are examples of folks who refuse to go as far as the Nazi SS, or serial killers, etc.). When people do choose to blindly follow authority bent on evil they lose their humanity, IMO.

In countries like ours, where we are born with liberty, paid for by the blood of many heroes, it’s much more unlikely that people would lose their humanity. And by human, or humanity I mean human beings who realize that we can choose to do good, for ourselves, families, country, and world. And that individual liberty is the most important thing we have. The results of collective thinking (communism, socialism, fascism, etc.) leads to disaster, as history clearly shows.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t make sacrifices for our families, friends and fellow human beings, but not under the banner of ant-like collectivism, but rather individual liberty. The philosphy our Founding Fathers brought to our country, and sacrificed blood and treasure for, is realized by more than a few people. BTW, this is just an example, I’m sure many of our allies aren’t prone to groupthink as well.

IRT, the Milgram experiments, the results would be quite different if members of our military or folks who realize what “we hold these truth’s to be self evident” mean were the participants.
Sadly, many of our colleges are more places of indoctrination into leftist type groupthink rather than places that teach students how to think for themselves (excluding possibly the hard sciences, math, and engineering majors, to name a few).

I’m not saying I’m perfect, or haven’t done things I regret, but I, like many millions of folks would never come anywhere close to being like the Nazi’s or Communists were. Even with the exceptional charisma Obama possesses, he still didn’t win by a landslide, and many voters who cast their vote for him are beginning to have regrets.

So no, I think their are a lot of people who will never fall for the groupthink mindset of fascists. If Obama had made that distinction, then I would’ve agreed with him on that point.
