Man I remember PLL used to complain about the Chinese students. Obviously, I’m no fan of the PRC too but the best thing to do would be to be friendly. I took a couple Chinese history courses as an undergrad. It’s a fascinating place but I actually think I got my best understanding of China and Taiwan for that matter during a job I had briefly in the fall of 2015. My co-worker was from Taiwan. Now, you may expect that he’d be biased as hell against Beijing and the PRC but he was very nuanced in explaining to me the history of Taiwan, the divides within Taiwanese culture, etc. On another note, he was also great at talking basketball with and I even tried my first Chinese breakfasts through him when he brought some bean pastries in one day. He also made homemade bubble tea for our corner of the office.
