Yeah, I just didn’t know enough about Garfield to have an opinion, really—or Arthur. But Arthur did push through the Civil Service Act as a result of Garfield’s assassination. That’s what the GOP will go after next after they repeal the 17th Amendment—they really hate it. Ideological purity should be the only qualification for office.

Fun fact about Arthur, my hometown was named after his father in law. Arthur also defended Lizzie Jennings, a sort of proto Rosa Parks in New York.
