I’m an optimist by nature, but my application of the 80-20 rule on people goes like this:
80% of the people are just indifferent about anything outside of their immediate circle.
Of the remaining 20%, I think that 80% of the people are really good people; they’re the ones that bend the arc toward justice.
Of that 80%, 80% do the right thing every time they can, while 20% just go out of their way, above and beyond.
Of the original 20%, 20% of those are just bad people, and you can go further down that chain to keep finding worse and worse people. Steve Miller fits into one of those latter groups.
