mtg is a performative idiot.

There was (or maybe still is) a genre of youtube videos of naive people who were talked into trying to fire high caliber firearms for the first time. Firearms like elephant rifles, magnum shotguns, and huge caliber pistols. I never found any of them funny.

A large number of these consist of guys trying to get their (firearms inexperienced, but trusting) girlfriends to shoot such a firearm. These are even less funny. And a few seem to show possible injuries to the shooter.

But yes, mtg is still a performative idiot.

One video of conservative preformative gun-nuttery comes to mind for me, between Blair White (conservative transwoman who is further right than Attila the Hun, plus uber-Christian gun nut) and Jacklyn Glenn (atheist counter-apologist who escaped Christianity, socialist-leaning, despises gun culture, but is close friends with Blair White and they live near each other).

Blair White challenged her to a shooting competition to prove liberals can’t do squat with guns. Jacklyn Glenn had never fired a gun in her life.

The agreed upon firearm would be a semi-automatic pistol, and they went to an indoor gun range for the competition.

Blair White has giant -uh- tracts of land, so the men in the place were fawning all over her (she passes very well). Jacklyn Glenn doesn’t get such fawning attention, but spent her time paying attention to the rangemaster on how to safely fire a gun, how to aim, &c.

Comes the target shooting, Ms. White didn’t even hit the target, while Ms. Glenn blew the centre out of it and didn’t miss once.

That pretty much deflated Ms. White’s “liberals are afraid of guns” talking point.
