Oh, it’ll be a powerful message. The message will be “There’s no place in the Dem Party for progressives. It’s either go along with the conservative minority or get out.” That the progressives compromised and compromised, but they still got nothing while the “moderates” got everything they wanted.

FDR and LBJ could never have passed their domestic agenda if their legislative margins were so razor thin. The lesson should be that you compromise to get something through to show that you can govern and then you do what is needed to expand your majority so that you can adopt a sweeping domestic agenda. If the progressives don’t understand this, they will never have another chance because our future will be Trump and fascism. I support the progressive proposals — but a majority of the House may not; we need to get what we can now and then fight for more.
