in my official primary religion, there’s a rule that “you shall have no other gods before me”.

But there doesn’t seem to be a prohibition against lesser, subservient gods after him. I’ve been known to leave offerings for Pele (no volcanoes here, but sometimes a manhole seems to suggest there’s trouble with the gas lines)… and I occasionally beseech favor from Snohomish (goddess of green lights and favorable parking spaces).

The problem with parking spaces is all us rural people have hogged all the favourable parking spaces in our towns, so large cities have none. Perhaps a socialistic redistribution programme of parking spaces is in order. /s
