re: #70 Fenway_Nation

And who gets to set up the goalposts on allegations of racism?

Hmmm, that’s a good question. I think it’s one of those things that should have the “reasonable person” standard applied to it.

A reasonable person will not find “I oppose Obama’s stance on $issue” to be racist. I think that a reasonable person should find a picture of Obama with a bone through his nose to be racist.

I, of course thinking that I’m reasonable, because most people think that of themselves, think that it’s worth questioning whether or not a person who loudly disrespected the President of the United States, currently a black man, acting in the capacity of that office, addressing our Congress might have some race issues. Especially when you add to that that Wilson also has a history of speaking disrespectfully of black people, has an association with a group which has a lot of overlap with CCC, which are outwardly and vocally white supremacist, and was one of only 7 people to vote to continue to fly the Confederate battle flag over the State House of a US State, despite the fact that many people of that state, white and black, were uncomfortable with the racist overtones of that symbol.

Given all of that, doesn’t it make sense to think that Wilson might possibly a a racist? Do you think he’d have done the same thing to Bill Clinton? I don’t.
