I’m not a shrink, but I think I am a decent judge of human nature. and I believe that the talk of violence from those on the far right is a reaction to their own feelings of impotence. it should not be dismissed and it is troubling beyond belief. people like beck definitely feed this feeling of impotence with their daily drumbeat of examples of the “bad guys” trampling on the rights of the newly oppressed. many of the most extreme haters on the right have not adapted to a more diverse world where the white man is not “in charge” as he was in the “good old days.” I really believe that having a Black president is more than many of these people can bear. And when this President does things that they don’t like, they get crazy. I don’t support a lot of what President Obama is doing. But I also don’t think he has done EVERYTHING wrong. And I am rooting for things to get better for the country. And if that means he is reelected in 2012, so be it. I’d rather see that happen than see the country spiral out of control just so I can say “I told you so.” I have no interest in that at all.
