To be fair…AQ did not exist at the time of the bombing in Beirut and the people involved were Shiites allied with Iran. It made no tactical or strategic sense to leave people there to be blown up.

I agree with you. I disagreed with Ronald Reagan about many things, but when he withdrew the Marines from Beirut, I thought that was a sensible move for the sake of the Marines’ safety.
