The reason these propaganda models work is because love having someone else to blame THEIR problems on. I don’t have the job I want but thats because of Affirmative action and the Blacks. I don’t have enough money but that’s because those no good Jew bankers are gaming the system. I pay too much for healthcare but thats because all those illegals are coming in and getting it for free and so on and so on.

As long as there is someone to blame (and there always will be) the system can sustain itself without interruption. They convince you its not your fault, it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the forces against you.

Personal responsibility - real personal responsibility - where you look at your actions and think critically about what you could have done better and how you contributed to the situation you’re in - that shit is fucking hard. Most people don’t want to acknowledge their faults. It’s uncomfortable to do so, and people shy away from it.

I’ve written before about how integrity is one of the principles that I do my best to live by, and I can’t achieve that without that kind of self-introspection. So I know from experience that there are days it really fucking sucks to look at your life and realize that yep, that fuck-up is all on you.
