Good thread. It’s important to remember that by what Christians are supposed to believe (presuming we trust in god’s word) is that God is not a democrat, republican, socialist, Nazi, commie, etc. Instead God is beyond our petty concerns and interested instead in showing us the way to live in the light, to live in love & to show us the meaning of grace. This is something that can be seen by how the Golden Rule is found all over the globe in multitudes of traditions & religions. We may not all agree on how to define God but we all know the real way to truly serve God…

Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

This a unilateral moral commitment to the well-being of the other without the expectation of anything in return. Those without empathy can not understand that.
