On that drug dealer issue, wherever you stand on the death penalty, there is a reason it is only applied to murder.

It used to be applied in some states to rape as well. States eventually got rid of that punishment for rape because if someone raped someone else, there was no reason to leave the victim alive; the criminal had already committed a capital crime.

I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one in my village, but I could see that argument used for drug dealers, and additionally an VIII Amendment argument (unusual punishment).
