I wonder if our schools could make modern media and social networking a topic of instruction, teaching young people to distinguish between an Internet presence and a flesh-and-blood person, how to identify dubious or misleading content and how to find and verify reliable sources.

And combine that with education on civics and voting.

Make it a unit in Civics/Government class.
