“My daughter might one day need to have an abortion” is going to take a back seat to “My daughter needs food now and I can’t afford it because of supply shortages eating into my paycheck that hasn’t kept up with inflation.”

The lower on the income scale, the larger the share of income goes for gasoline and groceries: the poorest are the ones who are the most squeezed by inflation.

And the more rural they live, the farther the people have to drive and the fewer the public transportation options.
