FBI Extremist Probe and Veterans

One aspect of this that we should all consider is that the alienation that combat veterans feel when returning home has been amplified by the left’s rhetoric that got Obama elected and continues in the form of “rage” over our “torture methods”.

Combat veterans no longer feel that they belong to this society. It is right and proper for the FBI to be concerned with this - McVeigh was an alienated combat vet. It helps when clear voices also point out that the left has done a great deal to create a political culture that is intolerant of admiring combat veterans but would rather forget about them while trumping up rhetoric about war crimes and abusive tactics.

The men and women who fought in Iraq fought one of the most savage opponents in history and developed means of doing so that were comparatively non lethal. The “greatest generation” (which the left loves to celebrate) adopted tactics of fire bombing entire cities as a means of overcoming popular resistance.

I think much of the right’s frustration here is poorly articulated and mis-directed, and I think that much of that is being further exploited by the left in an effort to further alienate anyone who would contemplate or suggest use of force as a tool of American foreign policy.

And that leads to more alienation of combat vets thus making a small portion of that population more likely to join extremist causes.

The left would excuse such were it happening any where else (eg “jihad = minutemen”) but here they are exploiting it. We need clear voices.
