re: #77 Killgore Trout
I sat down and watched Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb on Hulu this afternoon. It’s been a decade or two since I’ve seen it. It’s eerily relevant today. The Birch Society conspiracy about fluoride in water were pretty obvious and “precious bodily fluids” were things that I remembered but what struck me with this viewing was the final scene which I totally forgot about.
Glenn BeckDr. Stranglove describes his fantasy apocalypse solution fantasy which is where the “love the bomb” part of the title comes from. Really a brilliant and surprisingly forward looking movie beyond anything imaginable. Who would have guessed we’d still be dealing with this today.
Kubrick was a brilliant director, and Peter Sellers handled his parts with great aplomb. I’ve always loved DR. Strangelove, and its one of my mother’s all time favorite movies.
