Jewelry is tough. Retail has legs if you have good work & online savvy but the manufacturing side is pretty grim. I was looking at BLS stats yesterday and it’s not pretty.

We already lost 1/3rd of jewelry mfg employment since the 1990’s. BLS projects another 33% loss in jewelry mfg employment by 2020. It’s like steel or textiles/clothes. Gone offshore. In 2020 2/3rds less people will be in the manufacturing side compared to 1995. Figure in population growth and it’s uglier.

My perspective & interest is that of a 4th generation guy in the biz.
