re: #69 EdDantes

I’m a republican and I am against abortion as merely another birth control option. I am for abortion in the case of health of the mother, rape, incest and to that I can add viability and quality of life of the baby.

What about when other forms of birth control fail, are you against abortion in those cases as well? I mean, if the woman is on the Pill, and the man uses a condom but both prophylactics fail we can assume that there was an affirmative desire not to produce a pregnancy. In such a case at least can we not move on to the next argumentative phase and discuss when personhood begins?

Basically I’m saying your position kind of sucks in as much as you don’t state why abortion as another birth control option is something you should be against. I understand that there are many reason why it’s less ideal than actual prophylactics, such as that it costs more, is a medical procedure, etc, however it isn’t mutually exclusive of other forms of birth control and is often employed in situations where they fail.

Are you one of those people who think that life (and more importantly personhood) begins at conception, and as such do you oppose Plan B or anything that prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg?
