I get $450 a week right now in unemployment benefits. Start my new job next Monday, thank goodness. $450 a week is barely enough for gas, a few utilities, dog food, and bourbon…fortunately my wife makes a good salary too, so she was able to cover our mortgage and other expenses the last two months and our savings burn rate was only about 2k a month.

The good thing about being unemployed for three months was we learned how to budget again - so we will start saving a bit more than we were and still be able to enjoy ourselves.

I know what you mean. I was unemployed for 4 months 4 years ago and collected unemployment for the first time in my life. I hated every minute of it. I must have averaged 10 applications a day until I found my current job.
