It’s Journalism 101: When the subject of an interview says, “I didn’t say that” then it’s up to the journalist who did the interview to show proof that the person being interviewed either did say that and is now claiming otherwise, or they were falsely quoted and an apology is in order.

That stands no matter how nice or detestable the person being interviewed may be.
