Interesting article.

On thinking about it though it seems that Burnham, and especially Francis, made the mistake of deciding on a conclusion and then coming up with data to support that conclusion.

It wasn’t, “Society is ruled by an uncaring, technocratic elite therefore the white proletariat should unite to seize power.” It was, “White people should unite to seize power and an uncaring, technocratic elite is the reason we’ve chosen to do so.”

What’s most amusing is I’ve heard the ideas of Burnham and Francis before in the writings of John Ralston Saul who is about as far from a conservative and racist as it is possible to be. Saul isn’t a Marxist either.

I guess that’s why he has so little influence. Saul doesn’t fit in the standard left/right political matrix.

I’ve always thought Voltaire’s Bastards should be required reading for anyone contemplating running for political office.
