It is not lost on them. It is an extreme assertion of their privilege and a big fuck you to their targets. It’s a power play.

And any reaction that does not want to reconcile why they would even do it privately isn’t one that is concerned with what they are actually doing and that’s part of why it keeps fucking happening.

These guys can write it off as “just good old (frat) boys having some harmless fun” but putting it out in a public medium changes the whole thing.

Heck, I sometimes tell tasteless and offensive jokes, but I tell them in private and only around people who understand me and my sense of humor. And I would not be surprised if they offended people who did not. Which is why I keep them private in the first place.
