re: #71 Hecuba’s daughter

I got into a brief FB exchange yesterday with someone who complained about Twitter suspending accounts of conservatives — she ultimately gave James Woods, Jack Prosobiec, and Robert O’Neill as examples. Other than purging real bots and perhaps identifying foreign agent, SM platforms may be in a no-win situation. We really don’t want censors reading every word everyone writes — and you cannot hire enough people to review the language anyway, when hundreds of millions of users are on these platforms. It’s not only vile memes and personal attacks — what if they are spreading false information? A news organization can impose strict rules on its employees and control what they publish. But I’m not really sure what can be done if a private citizen starts promoting lies/distortions like Pizzagate or Uranium One or Seth Rich under their personal account.

misinfo is a different kettle of fish and worries me just a tad less

still, twitter is private property and they *could* have whatever rules they like
