There is a slight, but real, danger that a kind of Trump super-militia could coalesce around armed church groups, Prince mercenaries, and rogue law enforcement. They could not prevent the inauguration of a new President but there are quite a few cities and suburbs where they could effectively take control, at least temporarily. They would do so in the belief that the libs are helpless, unarmed snowflakes who will concede in the face of real violence and that the military will either rally to Trump or refuse to intervene. As Charles and others have documented, many of them really believe it can and will come to this. Any such uprising would be snuffed out pretty quickly but it might be very bad for a few days, depending on where you live.

This scenario is very unlikely. Despite all the rants on the Internet, if there is any political violence, it is more likely to be on the order of the Hodgkinson shooting — a couple individuals will go off the deep end at a GOP defeat, but there will be no organized rebellion.
