I remember Rick Santorum discussing a similar theme: that America’s economic decline was based on moral decline and the disappearance of the single-earner nuclear family with the stay-at-home mom.

Rick Santorum, of course, should go fuck himself. I was lucky to grow up in that single job mom at home situation, my dad made enough for that to be possible. The dumb notion that it is a moral failing that makes that less common these days is so stupid and infuriating. Especially since it is his party that has done whatever they could to make sure corporations can keep more of their revenue for themselves instead of sharing productivity and profit gains with labor.
