But how do they just dump Pence? It’s not like Trump can fire him - Pence is an elected official. He doesn’t just serve at the pleasure of the President.

I suppose they could pressure him to resign or something along those lines.

He tells (and gets his fixers to tell) the RNC that he wants Nikki Haley as his running mate. They choose Nikki Haley, and Pence quits for some reason to save face.

And the the Democratic House needs to vote for a new VP to be in place until January 20th, 2021.
