re: #811 irongrampa

betcha if we were to enforce the laws, attrition and word of mouth would delete a good many.
Would it cost more to deport them than it does to provide their health care?

Business would hire the available—just as they do now.

Expand on the unintended consequences, not sure what you mean there.

The laws are enforced. People are removed when ICE catches them, no doubt. The problem is, how do you identify them? By their looks? If that is the case, I’d hope they wouldn’t break down any Puerto Ricans’ doors (or US citizen Latinos). That would be embarrassing.
I can’t say I know the cost of deporting 10, 11, 12 millions of illegals v. healthcare costs. The unintended consequences I refer to is in regard to business. Who the hell knows what would happen, I sure don’t. On the negative side, every restaurant in your town would have to pay a substantial increase to there now US citizen kitchen help. Businesses selling to illegals would lose. The agriculture and poultry industries would have a bit of an issue. This is NOT to say that illegals don’t pose serious problems. It is a very serious issue. But, they will not be deported in mass. That is a fact. Either craft a solution that contemplates that fact or do as the US will do in my opinion - nothing.
