Is it really just money —or an educated, yet nerdy (for lack of a better word) parents? There are lots of rich communities that don’t give a whit about real education —just status, grades and having the latest and greatest stuff.

No I dont think its all about money. The school district Gus linked to wants to take away computers from the classroom, while the poor district wants an ipad for every child.

I think its based on need. The wealthier kids have them at home and are probably over exposed. The poor kids are lagging in technology. So both approaches make sense theoretically.
