Ranting against “burdensome regulation” is a platitude that may sound good to the ear especially if you fancy yourself an opponent of so called big government but as DD got it, OSHA has saved lives. It’s easy to rant against regulations in the Ivory Tower of a right wing think tank where the worst is likely to happen to you is to get stuck with Jim DeMint.

Remember that we area also competing with international companies whose environmental, safety and health standards are lax or unenforced. In doing so, we are shooting ourselves in the foot: not only are we losing jobs to companies who do not have to incur these costs, but we are giving them little or no incentive to clean up their act.
