It’s ok. Luckily it’s near impossible to offend me, except this one time early last November… but that’s a different thing altogether. I have to give credit to the point mentioned about being able to defend yourself but comments directed towards the defenseless being different. I hadn’t seen it that way, so kudos for the enlightenment. Luckily if someone comes after me, I have a very self-deprecating sense of humor, so they are just giving me new material.

It is a very fine line to walk. I can’t speak for anyone else on LGF but I must admit that I do find myself on this forum checking my political language to protect both myself and those whom I might offend. This is part of what makes civil public discourse. Would I be so guarded with my best, most trusted friends? Absolutely not!

Part of the backlash you received, I believe, is that conservatives are stereotyped as racist and insensitive and are held to extremely rigid standards (PC) by liberals. So when a very liberal, very public person such as Obama commits such an obvious gaffe, there is a tendency to want to burn him for it.

Again, you seem thoughtful and despite being 29 you should not feel intimidated to post. Though, it is a tough room! I’ve been scorched a few times too.
