It’s so bizarre to me that the Republicans are still falling over themselves to treat Trump like America’s Kim Jong Un. Do they really think tying themselves so closely to such an incredibly unpopular figure is going to pay off electorally? Do they think he’ll bestow riches on the biggest sycophants?

As Jim Wright noted in his last column, they aren’t concerned about the next election. Like vulture capitalists who load up a company with debt and cash out, it would appear the current crop of GOP candidates are doing the same thing with the country.

They don’t care if they burn down their own party, because they will go away rich.
