It kind of fits in with arguments of “if there’s no God, how can there be objective morality? Why wouldn’t people just go round raping and killing?”

a) There isn’t any objective morality.
b) Laws
c) If you need religion to keep from raping and killing, by all means I don’t want you to give up religion.

People will be rapey-killy-stealy-gambly all the time unless they all fear eternal retribution and flaming damnation

That is their view of human nature, or rather, their own self-loathing projected onto the rest of society.
