I’m not comparing today with any particular time in the past. Just saying that in general there’s nothing wrong with promoting responsibility, humility, self-control, etc. Of course, Rick is anything BUT responsible, humble, or in possession of self-control.

What you think people were more humble and had better self-control back when the KKK was popular, Jim Crow laws, and during the time of slavery? This idea that this is some kind of new phenomenon is like the 50s stereotypes revolving around “Father Knows Best.” If we could get a time machine and plant ourself in say, the Bowery during the days of Tammany Hall. Then compare how Americans were “back in the good old days” to today. People are downright civilized compared to the mythical days of old.
