I’ll probably get downdings for this but…

When someone goes on a Rhino hunt and gets death threats the standard response is that they should expect it. “That is how the internet works and you shouldn’t take it too seriously” seems to be the standard refrain.

Right wingers who become publicly visible because of their unpopular stance on certain issues have made a cottage industry out of publishing all the death threats they receive in order to get their base riled up.

Meanwhile our usual response is a yawn or perhaps someone will make a post attributing the threat to “some total nutjob” who of course is “No true Scotsman Liberal.”

I guess what I am saying is that if you are so readily willing to dismiss threats of violence over the internet against people that you dislike. Then maybe you shouldn’t complain so loudly when it happens to someone who manages to tug at your heartstrings.
