And despite the fact that Minnesota is entering “phase 3” of its “Stay Safe MN” program, which introduces indoor dining and most businesses (such as salons and gyms) at 50% capacity / maximum 250 people, the toothless state GOP is still trying to castigate Governor Walz and strip his emergency powers so we can forcibly reopen. I don’t understand what these people want, I mean, we’re making progress reopening the economy and we’re doing SO WELL controlling the pandemic… Oh, wait, that’s right - they want us all to die horribly so they can prove their worth to the Dear Leader and make Minnesota Republican.

We saw the reason yesterday: They want to ram the economy back to as close to “normal” before November as they can because double-digit UE is electoral poison. Also, the sooner that the pandemic is declared “over,” the sooner they can start agitating for cuts to UEI and the social safety net to force the “freeloaders” back to work.

Mitch and others atop Capital Hill have signaled what the party as a whole fears: We might get to November or even into next year thinking that that whole “socialism” business might be a good idea.
