The President had already seriously endangered his relationship with the GOP back in 2008 when he made the mistake of getting elected President. That was a faux pas that Republican just couldn’t forgive him for.

And it didn’t help that he had previously upset conservatives back in ‘61 with the highly controversial and divisive decision to be born the son of a black man in America.
